I know I usually only post once a week, but I recently finished one of my favorite projects of the year and I just had to share it!
Kim Wensel of Pattern of Purpose hired me to design her brand identity and set up her Genesis (for Wordpress) theme. Kim came to me earlier this year with a new business she was setting up; a business that helps young women gain focus and explore their career options.
After speaking with Kim over Skype and seeing just how lovely and passionate she was, I knew this was the perfect project for me. Our goals, style, values and passions aligned perfectly, and I believed that what she was doing could genuinely make a difference in so many girls lives!
I follow the same design process with every client that hires me to design their brand and website. It takes 4-5 weeks depending on the package they choose and the extras they add.
The start of something special
I asked Kim to fill out a questionnaire before the project began and fill a Pinterest board with inspiration for her brand. From her homework, I then created a moodboard summarizing her design aesthetic and the direction we were going to take her brand.
When we finalized her moodboard and she was happy with her color palette, I made a start on her main logo. I began by sending 3 initial logo concepts focusing only on typography. Then when she chose the concept she wanted to proceed with, we had two revision rounds to tweak it and make it perfect before moving onto creating her brand board.
When Kim'm main logo was complete we moved on to her brand board. I offer another two revisions for the brand board so that my client can request tweaks and we can get their brand looking as feeling right.
Kim wanted a brand that was slightly boho and reflected that side of her personality, but she also knew that her brand had to maintain a professional edge so that schools would take her business seriously.
This was the final brand board!
I also set up her website and installed the Swank theme for her, then customized it with her brand colors, logo and fonts.
We left Kim's eBook until a month after the creation of her brand and website so she could have time to write it, then we got cracking! Kim loves the look of Regina's eBooks so we started there for inspiration, keeping things fun and clean! Take a look at a few pages below.
